Winter Hiking – High Tatras and Slovak Paradise

A short transfer to Tatranska Polianka were we start the hike to Sliezsky dom – the highest situated hotel in Slovakia. From there we’ll hike along the Tatranska magistrala (the High Tatras hiking highway) to Batizovske lake and then down to Vysne Hagy.

Hike from Stary Smokovec to Zbojnicka hut and back.
Along the way you can enjoy stunning views of  both Slovakia’s largest mountain ranges: the High and the Low Tatras and the valley below. In the hut you can pick some of the traditional mountain dishes or have a pint of beer.
Distance 17.8 km, up 1095 m, down 1095 m, 6:30-7 hours

Today’s walk will start again in Stary Smokovec, only this time we’ll set off to Hrebienok. From there you will continue to Zamkovskeho hut and further to the lake Skalnate pleso – hopefully the weather will be on our side and will allow us the view of the surrounding summits and the observatory on the Lomnicky peak above the lake. From Skalnate Pleso we will  just walk down to Tatranska Lomnica.
Distance 15.4 km, up 870 m, down 1015 m,  5:30-6 hours

Later in the afternoon we will change the scenery and head to the Slovak Paradise.

Today is our  first hiking day in the Slovak Paradise – quite a literal paradise for hikers.
In the morning we will  start our hike in the Sucha Bela gorge – one of the most famous gorges in the Slovak Paradise.  Even though it might look tricky, its natural beauty is worth every step. Once we  get out and above the gorge, the way back to Podlesok will be much easier.
Distance 9,3 km, up 455 m, down 455 m, 3:40-4 hours

Another stunning hiking trail is waiting for you today – the gorge Piecky. Starting again in Podlesok, we will reach the opening of the gorge after about 4 km. We will walk up the gorge and return to Podlesok.
Distance 14.3 km, up 590 m, down 590 m,  time 5-6 hours
Overnight in the Slovak Paradise

Today we will conquer the most famous gorge of the Slovak Paradise – the Hornad gorge.  Third time’s the charm; we will start from Podlesok one last time. The trail  will lead us up the Klastorska gorge to Klastorisko – a place on the top of a hill hiding the ruins of the Carthusian monastery built in the 13th century. Walking down will then be shorter and considerably easier.
Distance: 11.7 km, 500 m up/down, time: 4-4.5 hours

Biding our farewell to the Slovak mountains, we’ll transfer to  Poprad from where you will make your way home.

In general the expected temperatures might be about 0°C or lower. We recommend to bring proper winter hiking clothes and shoes. 

The tour is rather demanding in terms of physical requirements and health conditions. Each hiking day has its description, please take into account.

The country  – Slovakia is part of the Schengen zone. It means you only need single visa (if needed at all) to enter the Schengen zone. It is responsibility of the customer to find out if he/she needs visa to enter Schengen zone. Should you need any help, pls. feel free to contact us.
